2011 December Update

Members and Supporters of the Buffalo Historical Society:

Local members and volunteers worked hard preparing for the annual BHS Homecoming last July 22nd helping to make it a huge success. The handicapped bathrooms, the food prep area and the eave spout projects were completed to give the building more purpose and usefulness.

Several classes had memorable reunions with a supper at the Red Trail Vineyard and the balance of the evening reminiscing. A special 2011 BHS Homecoming DVD has been compiled with photos from the Reunion and Shuffle. It is available for purchase by contacting Liane Stout at 701-633-5000. For a $20 donation to the “1916 BHS Capital Campaign”, you can relive the Beach Party held in Buffalo this past summer.

Plan to attend the 2012 BHS Homecoming at our historic 1916 Buffalo High School on Friday, July 20, 2012 and continue the celebration at the annual Shuffle off to Buffalo on Saturday, July 21st.

In late August, a group of dedicated local women created the “Olde School Gift Shoppe, Treasures Old & New,” in the East Room of the 1916 School. In September, the Shoppe was filled with donated merchandise and was opened for business on September 17th. Guests that attended the State Certified Local Government Conference held in Buffalo were able to enjoy the Gift Shoppe on their visit to the Old School.

Monthly openings or visits by appointment included the “Celebrate the Season! Buffalo Community Christmas” on December 3rd and 4th.

A recent visit was made by the Buffalo Daycare and the Buffalo Elementary K through 3rd grade students to pick out one special item for someone on their Christmas list. The students enjoyed shopping, singing and some snacking on Christmas treats at the Old School.

The Shoppe has had a great impact as a funding source for the “1916 BHS Capital Campaign” to support goals and projects at the 1916 High School. Your donations and gifts are greatly appreciated as we start to focus on the Upper Level of the School as well as other renovation projects.

Plan to attend so you can be a part of the yearly BHS Homecoming at our historic 1916 Buffalo High School on Friday, July 20, 2012.

Sincerely

Gerald Melvin
